Abstract
ALYA JASMIEN D, 04.20.077. The Impact of Social Media on Students' Social
Interaction at SMAN 19 Bandung, Bandung City, Preceptor by Mr. Ramli
and Mrs. Eni Rahayuningsih.
This research aims to obtain an empirical picture description and
information regarding the impact of social media on the social interactions of
students using social media at SMAN 19 Bandung, with the scope of the research
including respondent characteristics, social contacts, joint activities, and social
relationships in social interactions between students. The approach used in this
research is descriptive quantitative. The research population consisted of class
Testing the validity of the instrument was through face validity, while the reliability
test of the research instrument used Cronbach's Alpha and was tested on 20
students who had similar characteristics and were not included in the specified
sample. Data was obtained through the data collection technique of distributing a
rating scale research instrument, respondents chose four answer options "Very
Often", "Often", "Sometimes", and "Never". Other supporting data was obtained
through interviews and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used is
descriptive statistics. The research results are based on the frequency distribution
table of the majority of students in the aspects of social contact (90.67%), joint
activities (87.05%), and social relationships (63.21%) in their social interaction.
The intensity of social interaction tends to be moderate, while some small of the
accumulation of these three aspects (38.43%) the intensity of social interaction
tends to be low. Even though social media has positive impacts such as making
group coordination easier, the negative impacts tend to be more influential, making
the process of direct social interaction less than optimal or of moderate to low
intensity and triggering the emergence of dissociative social interactions. Based on
the analysis of problems, needs and resources, a program is recommended that can
increase social interaction for students who use social media, the program is
"Increasing Student Social Interaction and Wise Use of Social Media through
Recreation Skill Groups at SMAN 19 Bandung".

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dan informasi secara
empiris mengenai dampak media sosial terhadap interaksi sosial siswa pengguna
media sosial di SMAN 19 Bandung, dengan cakupan penelitian meliputi
karakteristik responden, kontak sosial, aktivitas bersama, dan hubungan sosial
dalam interaksi sosial antar siswa. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini
adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari siswa kelas X dan kelas
XI dengan total jumlah 672 siswa pengguna media sosial, yang kemudian ditarik
sampel menggunakan teknik Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling sebanyak
193 siswa di SMAN 19 Bandung. Pengujian validitas instrumen melalui face
validity sedangkan uji reliabilitas instrumen penelitian menggunakan Alpha
Cronbach dan telah diuji pada 20 siswa yang memiliki persamaan karakteristik
serta tidak termasuk dalam sampel yang telah ditentukan. Data diperoleh melalui
teknik pengumpulan data penyebaran instrumen penelitian skala penilaian (Rating
Scale), responden memilih empat pilihan jawaban “Sangat Sering”, “Sering”,
“Kadang-kadang”, dan “Tidak Pernah”. Data pendukung lainnya diperoleh melalui
wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah
statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan Tabel distribusi frekuensi
mayoritas siswa pada aspek kontak sosial (90,67%), aktivitas bersama (87,05%),
dan hubungan sosial (63,21%) dalam interaksi sosial mereka memiliki intensitas
interaksi sosial cenderung Sedang, sedangkan sebagian kecil dari akumulasi ketiga
aspek tersebut (38,43%) intensitas interaksi sosialnya cenderung Rendah.
Meskipun media sosial menghadirkan dampak positif seperti mempermudah
koordinasi kelompok, namun dampak negatifnya cenderung lebih mempengaruhi
sehingga membuat proses interaksi sosial secara langsung yang tidak optimal atau
intensitasnya yang Sedang sampai Rendah dan memicu timbulnya interaksi sosial
disosiatif. Berdasarkan analisis masalah, kebutuhan, dan sumber daya disarankan
program yang dapat meningkatkan interaksi sosial bagi siswa pengguna media
sosial, program tersebut “Peningkatan Interaksi Sosial Siswa dan Penggunaan
Media Sosial Secara Bijak melalui Recreation Skill Group di SMAN 19 Bandung”.
